Since 2005, I have been a Clinical Supervisor. While I do not accept Associates in my practice at this time, I do offer Clinical Supervision to BBS Registered Counseling Associates (AMFTs, APCCs, and ASWs) who are employed where clinical supervision is not provided. A Letter of Agreement (or Contract) must be signed between Employer, Associate, and Clinical Supervisor.
My approach is Associate-Centered and I believe in the importance of mentoring new counselors to hone their skills while maintaining the integrity of the counseling profession. I am known to support one's clinical and theoretical growth because I value developing a strong Supervisor-Associate relationship to bring out the best in my Associates. During the first meeting with an Associate, goals and learning objectives are developed and agreed upon together. My ultimate goal is to help develop professional, knowledgeable, and confident therapists. Some of my strengths include:
Teaching Associates to conceptualize a case while developing their skills
Teaching Associates how to navigate systems while maintaining legal and ethical standards
Helping Associates understand the intersectionality of clients to better treat the whole person
Teaching Associates how to bring a social justice perspective into the therapeutic alliance.
To learn more about Clinical Supervision, please email me through the Contact page or call me at 916-633-1373.
Individual Supervision is available on a sliding scale and can be done either in person or face-to-face online. Group Supervision rates vary depending upon group size.
WHAT ASSOCIATES SAY ABOUT FLORENCE
"I value freedom to explore my thoughts and expansiveness in learning. Having Florence as my clinical supervisor gave me the opportunity to learn and grow as a clinician. Florence provided a safe space to explore my development as a clinician while questioning the clinical process itself. I really enjoy working with someone who understands how systems contribute to the healing process of people, and Florence has that understanding. She has a subtle way of balancing theory, law & ethics, and clinical practice with an influence of social justice and human rights advocacy. I really enjoyed working with Florence as I developed my clinical work." –ASW
"Florence is such a caring person and understanding. She helped me out when I needed it the most with clients. And although we knew each other in a short period of time, she was able to see where I was coming from and I didn’t have to explain. Florence encouraged me to breath when I got stuck with clients or to talk it out with her. She is always there to hear her interns out." -MFT Associate
